Прежде всего спасибо Jac за быструю посылку и правильную её декларацию, спасибо! После 5 часового прогрева ламп я послушал их звук предвзято. Звуку не хватало блеска, жизни и весомости. Проведя параллель с обычными 300В, которые на максимальной мощности рассеяния звучат более полнокровно, я подумал поднять ток покоя тестируемых ламп до 100мА, просто подняв напряжение на аноде лампы. Мощность рассеяния поднялась почти до рекомендуемой для этой лампы. Звук преобразился в лучшую сторону многократно. От обычной 300В его отличают отсутствие характерной для 300В окраски по всему диапазону, более натуральные тембры инстрементов, ожившая настоящая открытая сцена, и самое главное - б'ольшая выходная мощность, недостижимая для обычной 300В. Глубина сцены стала менее хай-эндная, те в глубину она стала меньше, зато музыканты стали менее виртуальными, они расселись перед слушателем(при этом звук шёл не из АС). Правда EML грубо обходилисть с мелкими подробностями и штрихами музыки и баса было маловато, возможно с прогревом это изменится. Для серийного усилителя, где невозможно изменить режимы выходной лампы в большую сторону, я бы выбрал обычные EML 300B. А если блок питания и выходной трансформатор позволяет поднять ток, а ещё лучше и напряжение выходного каскада, можно получить с EML 300B-XLS 15-18 ватт выходной мощности, не применяя, например 211 лампу. I really apreciated it. Good reply, when I asked: do the valves need a working period before to give their best performances? If yes how long time? His answer... In the beginning the new valves sound not at it's best. You need to break them in about 50 hours, under normal use. So not 50 hours at one piece, but normally a few hours every day. They need the warm and cold too. Like a new car engine, basics are the same. The easier you burn them in, the better they will be. No high loudness the first 50 hours. Feel free to post this on your website if you wish. Based on observations in my test amp, the news regarding the Emission Labs 520B's is rather good! Arriving in Australia packed like lab glassware, the 520B's quality of construction was immediately apparent, the rigid structure will ensure long-term stability. The filament top supports deserve mention, they seem well designed to avoid the filament sag that increases microphony and the parametric instability that can spell an early end of a DHT's useful life. Acoustic feedback and microphony are much reduced with the 520B's. How often do we spend time looking in the wrong place for an "electronic" problem that lies elsewhere? A single 520B replaced two 300B's per channel in a single-ended development test amp. Operating point Ip, Va, Vc, etc were adjusted to suit the 520B. Despite having many different power supply, output and driver configurations over several years, this amp has never sounded as good as with the single 520B's. Initial listening delayed the serious business of test and measurement for far too long, as I could not believe how good these were straight out of the box. Most equipment, in my experience requires considerable adjustment before the sound "sets" but these were so good and matched the environment so well from the outset. The behavior of the tubes, (initial stability of Ip etc) make it obvious that these really have been factory run-in, tested and accurately matched as claimed. I would suggest that constructors seriously consider the 520B's for similar applications, as among other factors outlined below, the load presented to the driver stage by the single 520B's is much easier to drive cleanly with a reasonably sized driver stage than multiple 300B or similar. In my test configuration, this results in much better sound at the frequency extremes, with simpler driver and interstage transformer matching networks. Initial testing confirmed that the 520B's Plate Impedance and Anode resistances would match the Lundahl output transformer's (LL1627 140mA) rather well, despite running at a conservative 130mA. Output is maintained without obscuring LF detail to a greater extent with the 520B's, as output transformer primary winding inductance falls with frequency. I would say the 520B makes very good use of the lower primary winding inductance and reduced parasitic capacitances of the LL1627..sometimes a higher ratio transformer can obscure the detail, but a lower ratio can load down a tube that should be capable of driving the load and there is no simple explanation, but here there is no such problem. The sound confirms this and I "wasted" quite a bit of time just listening to the detail in some recordings that normally require careful attention. A more relaxed presentation with all the detail of an "on the edge design" results, those who have struggled to perfect a design will know exactly what I mean. The sweet spot seems easy to hit. It easily passes the "detail while washing dishes test".. Square-wave testing is a good example of just how well behaved the 520B//LL1627 combination is. The 520B really grabs the attention, requiring very little fettling to get great results and not "falling into a hole" when the power required increases, as so many tubes do. I did check my results twice, as I was sure a mistake had been made. Channel to Channel frequency response and gain matching was excellent and swapping tubes confirmed the tubes were pretty close (slight bias adjustment required). The driver stage and power supply must be excellent to take advantage of the transparency the 520B's confer, but these really shine if the rest of the amp is up to it. Serious listening has been a problem, as I found myself enjoying the music, rather than paying attention to the technical details (always a very good sign!) Die Yamamoto Headshell Ebony Wood wurde schnell geliefert, sie gefällt mir sehr gut. Die Montage meines neuen Nagaoka MP 500 war problemlos, und auch am Tonarm Sumiko Premier MMT passte alles. Daneben hatte ich noch diverse Kleinteile bestellt, wobei es eine kleine Unstimmigkeit in der Lieferung gab. Diese wurde aber von Jac Music schnell zu meiner vollen Zufriedenheit aufgelöst. Après avoir rapidement essayé d'autres tubes de puissance sur cet ampli remarquable, EL 34, 6550, KT88, j'avais opté pour les beaux, rares, chers (mais peu fiables...) KT 88S Tesla. Dernièrement sur les conseils de JADIS, j'ai voulu écouter les KT 90. J'avais eu une expérience, il y a quelques années, avec les modèles EI qui ne m'avaient pas particulièrement enthousiasmé. J'ai voulu essayer les EH vendus par JAC car ils sont parfaitement appairés et pré-rodés. La commande a été très vite expédiée et la découverte auditive a été un véritable choc ! Ces tubes peu connus sont EXCEPTIONNELS !!! Sans aucun doute, les meilleurs tubes de puissance écoutés sur le DA50S !! Ils arrivent à marier avec bonheur toutes les qualités des autres combinaisons : fermeté du grave, médium merveilleusement subtil, aigu fin filant très haut. La dynamique (maillon faible des KT 88S Tesla) reprend vie ; L’articulation de la musique est remarquable; On redécouvre une richesse de subtilités sur tous les enregistrements ! Une bien belle découverte que ces tubes de très grand classe, peu chers par rapport aux NOS et particulièrement musicaux. Bravo à JAC pour le pré-rodage Platinium et pour la qualité du service impeccable ! Un mélomane comblé !
