Anfänglich war ich recht begeistert wie gut die Röhren ad hoc spielten. Dann wurden Sie zunehmend schärfer, oder böse gesagt etwas schriller und die eine oder andere Scheibe ging mir ob der Spitze auf den Senkel und ich erwischte mich dabei leiser zu drehen.... Doch zum Glück legte sich das bald wieder und das Pärchen gewann zunehmend an Geschmeidigkeit, Fülle und vor allem an einem abgrundtiefen, trockenen und sauberen Bassfundament, welches auch bei den kritischen Platten immer unter Kontrolle war.
Alles in Allem kann man sagen das die Röhren nun auf einem extrem hohen Niveau spielen, mehr kann man kaum erwarten: Transparente und glockenklare, aber nicht zu überspitze Höhen, Mitten zum dahinschmelzen und ein Bass, den ich mir immer gewünscht habe. Nur zur Klärung: Ich habe während der gesamten Zeit immer mal wieder meine vorhandenen Shuguang Black Treasure und S.E.T Princess 300B Mesh Plate Röhren zum Vergleich herangezogen, es liegt also nicht etwa an einem "Gewöhnungsprozess" sondern tatsächlich an der offensichtlich notwendigen Einbrennzeit. Ich kann jedem nur raten diese auch durchzuspielen bevor eine abschließende Beurteilung stattfinden kann.
Der Vollständigkeit halber und weil es auch eine große Rolle spielt: Musik vorwiegend Jazz, Clubjazz, Stimmen, Chanson, Blues, Klassik. Weniger -aber auch hin und wieder- Rock, Reggae, Electropop, Ska. Lautstärken von "Jetztistesschonnach12machmaletwasleiser" bis Clubjazz-Live.
Natürlich klingen die Röhren auch in jeder Anlage anders, mal abgesehen von Raum und musikalischen Vorlieben des Hörers, daher kann ich nur für meine Kette und meine Ohren reden. Ich höre vorwiegend Vinyl über das Scheu Laufwerk no.2, Reed 2A Tonarm mit Koetsu Black, Omtec Antares Phono Pre, Silbatone JI300B Vollverstärker und Consensus Lightning SE Speakern.
Last but not least muss ich Jac einen klasse Service und eine sehr ordentliche Beratung per Phone und Mail zugestehen, hier wird man kompetent beraten und risikofrei einkaufen. | | | | | |

Ik heb inmiddels heel wat uren geluisterd en kan een volgende evaluatie geven.
Ik vind het buitengewoon goede buizen en heb nog geen moment spijt gehad van de aankoop. Ze doen eigelijk alles goed. Wat opvalt t.o.v een standaard 300B is dat ze ook bij lagere anodestroom gewoon goed blijven doorspelen terwijl een standaard 300B dan al snel wegzakt in het midlaag/laag. De EML buizen zijn muisstil, snel, precies en met krachtige dynamiek. Je kan er relaxed naar luisteren, maar ook met complexere muziek het volume opdraaien. Dan zijn zo goed als ze worden aangestuurd. Deze buis vraagt om een hele goede aansturing wil je er het maximale uithalen. Ze laten alles horen, zijn het beste component in het circuit. In elektrisch opzicht lijkt het wel een mosfet ;-) Wat kan ik er meer van zeggen? Dit zou iedere 300B liefhebber moeten overwegen. Dit is echt puur genieten. Complimenten voor dit mooie stukje handwerk. Bedankt!

De voeten zijn vanmorgen binnengekomen, bedankt.
Heb de buizen inmiddels een aantal uren aan het draaien. Ze zijn in plaats gekomen van EH300B's. De voordeligste op de markt volgens mij. Ik vond ze helemaal niet slecht overigens. Als purist beoordeel ik buis op z'n elektrische prestaties en in tweede aanleg 'klankmatig'. Als purist is het eigenlijk 'not done' om in die laatste termen te spreken. Ik doe dan ook alle moeite om vervorming en vervormende onderdelen (ook 'prettige') uit de schakeling te houden. De 300B met C3M combinatie is vrij van chokes. De versterker speelt daardoor zeer neutraal. Na jaren gestoei met transistors en mosfet circuits ben ik toch weer teruggekeerd naar de buis om 2 redenen: het circuit van een buis kan veel korter worden gemaakt en een buis geeft hoe dan ook de mooiste trebles vind ik. Terug naar de 1e indruk van de EML300BXLS V4. Om te beginnen complimenten voor een fantastisch product waaraan je in een oogopslag kunt zien dat het met zeer veel liefde en toewijding is gebouwd. Imposant ding. Op het eerste gehoor direct na het aanzetten merkte ik onmiddellijk dat de buis meer 'kracht en adem' heeft. De emissie is gelijkmatig, snel en accuraat over het gehele audiospectrum. Daardoor is er meer signaalresolutie en beter transientgedrag dan met de EH300B. Door de precisie en snelheid wordt de klank analytischer van karakter. Gelukkig ook voldoende muzikaal, alhoewel ik op dat vlak hoop dat hij nog wat 'los' komt' Tot zover een goede eerste indruk. Of het specifiek komt door de middenaftakking weet ik niet, maar hij is heel stil. Geen enkel stoorgeluid in de speaker te horen zonder signaal.

Thought I'd write to you to let you know that both tubes works fine now, both sides coming up to the right bias values after more hours of burn in.
To be honest with you, i spent a lot of money on this amp wanting an OTA (one tube amp) but the amp came to me with a design flaw. Not sure if the wrong kind of input transformer used but it was never to work from day one. I then thought if I made a terrible mistake earlier. The amp would distort terribly at low volumes and it was not getting any decent volume at all. I almost threw in the towel until I seek the help of Kevin Kennedy, owner of kta-hifi.net designer of a few good tube circuits based on the 26 tube and 300b as well. He earlier made some comments on the technical characteristicnof this tube on a forum on diyaudio.com not used by many today.
He suggested I drive this tube with an active tube stage ditching the input transformer that would potentially caused problems due to the high miller capacitance of the tube. After all that was tried in vain earlier, I ditched the input transformer altogether. Given that the amp was entirely built on a one tube amp, there was no space for rework and the only way was to graft a separate input/driver stage to it that would make this an amp in 2 chassis, no 3 since I had an unused 76 dc 6sn7 active preamp from an earlier build in 2 chassis. The famous JE labs driver stage was employed and I have taken a chance to graft this on this tube since many successful previous iterations were done by JEL using 300b's,2a3,45,we 205d, 10y and the 71a.
And I did just that.
The 20b grids were driven directly via capacitor coupled anode follower stage off the 6sn7, imused the gtb version creasing the plate voltage as well to hold the grid more positive , gave it plenty hours to break in and I made my first listen.
The EML 20b redefined sonic purity, delicacy and transparency from any modern made tubes today I have ever heard. If I once believed that only tubes manufactured ijnthe yesteryears could offer 'magical' sounds I now stood corrected as this tube has qualities matching and even surpassing some of the many different dht's I have ever heard and I have heard many up to even the Telefunken RS 241's and mesh plate globe 10's.
Currently running it up with a 14k primary impedance via a pair of Hashimoto output transformers the music is sweet, vocals are perhaps the sexiest and delicate ihave ever heard amongst many. For a solid plate and being a high Rp tube with requirements of high primary impedance, the highs are really beautiful in this tube.
Bass lines in this tube are unique as well, it's powerful but cleanly delineated delivering just the right amount of impact without going wooly or uncontrolled like many would.
I mention all this to you because I had a rather unfortunate experience with the EML 45 solid plate tubes I once owned, as big and popular as they were I found them lacking in these 'special ' and magical qualities in yesteryears nos tubes more so if the globe 45 and mesh plate 45 made by RCA and perryman were compared to. I foutooth's tube too staunch sounding as well as being slightly solid state like, this I don't know why but several users I passed them on to in different circuits reported the same.
A vast difference compared to these 20b's.
I did not know that you were the designer of EML tubes until I read about your AVVT writeup just now and I am very glad that the very same man is attending to sales and service of his every tube he makes even today.
I am currently in the search of the 2a3 tube and it seems that the EML would be the best choice since it is mentioned younhave the blueprint of the original mono plates? Kindly help me decide between the mesh and solid plates.
Am sure they will be beautiful sounding like these EML tubes as well. Too bad so little application of them amongst tube designs today. Am sure they will open up the ears and eyes of people who ever build ampsout of them, only if the circuit employed is correct. So far I am seeing a trend in the beauty of high mu dh's, they offer a sound character much different to the rest. The RS 241 and 211 are such other tubes though no modern version made today can match the nos variants, of course the RS 241 is no longer available.

Je vous informe que le paquet est arrivé à huit heure et demie ce matin environ, dans le délai prévu par DHL sur le suivi visible sur le net; c'est bien empaqueté, tout est en très bon état, les tubes ont l'air presque neufs,
très peu de rayures sur les broches, getters impeccables,état des bulbes de verre impeccable, boites ok; on dirait que ça vient de sortir de l'usine...
les tubes E83CC TESLA sont numérotés sur la boite, et sur le bulbe sur une pastille en papier autocollant; on retrouve ce même numéro sur la fiche de test; les tests sont très sérieux et détaillés avec des caractéristiques serrées, comme demandé...;
pour l'instant, je n'ai aucun amplificateur pour les écouter ce sera mon seul regret (comme un Ayon, ou un Air-tight ATM-2, par exemple...), ... mais c'est en projet...

Just to let you know that I received the tubes last week. Did not have a chance to try anything till a few nights ago. I did a quick listen to my original setup than power down the Cary amplifier, leaving everything else as is. Swap the 12AX7 with the Philips 12AX7 you sent and had another listen, here are some observations:
1) It was louder - I did not change the volume setting from my initial listen
2) The music was more crisp
3) There was more detail
4) Music “layer” was better define
5) Not as “warm” as the original 12AX7 but maybe this is something you give up for getting 2)
The Philips 12AX7 is a wonderful tube, thanks for the recommendation. I will try the new EML 300B XLS next and will report back. Have a safe holiday season If I don’t get back to you before X’mas.

Vielleicht interessiert er dich ja.
Nachkitten von Röhrensockeln. Es ist bekanntlich ein Übelstand, daß bei vielen Rundfunkröhren der Sockel lose wird. Bei Röhren ohne Außenmetallisierung stört das oft nicht. Bei Röhren mit Außenmetallisierung entstehen im Rundfunkgerät oft Knatterstörungen, Pfeifgeräusche, Lautstärkeschwankungen usw. Abhilfe schaft hier nur eine gute Verbindung zwischen Abschirmung und Anschlußdraht. Das erreicht man am sichersten durch Zwischenlegen eines Streifens Metallfolie zwischen Abschirmung und Anschlußdraht und nachfolgender sorgfältiger Nachkittung des Röhrensockels.
Einwandfrei gelingt das meistens nur bei Benutzung von Hilfsmitteln, die aber erst für jeden Röhrentyp hergerichtet bzw. neu eingestellt werden müssen. Für den Werkstattgebrauch ist deshalb eine praktische Vorrichtung entwickelt worden, die leicht selbst angefertigt werden kann, wie aus der Abbildung hervorgeht. Die Rändelschrauben B sind nicht unbedingt erforderlich und könnten entfallen. Das Gerät kann auch für zwei oder mehrere Plätze eingerichtet werden.

Noch wärmerer und vollerer Ton, bei akkuraten Bässen und offenen, detailreichen Höhen mit sehr guter Staffelung und Räumlichkeit, mit einem feinen "glitzern" in den oberen Mitten und Höhen. Optisch ist die Röhre natürlich ein Hingucker (insbesondere in Verbindung mit den "EML 300B-XLS") und auch von der Verarbeitung bestimmt nicht zu übertreffen. die Röhren sind wohlbehalten angekommen und haben die ersten Stunden hinter sich. Optisch sind die EML300B-XLS natürlich ein Leckerbissen, auch klanglich das beste, was ich bisher an 300B´s gehört habe, (und das waren schon viele), obwohl sie noch nicht einmal eingespielt sind!
Optimal war der Kontakt, und die absolut professionelle Abwicklung. Schade das ich die Seite erst jetzt gefunden habe. Die 300B´s waren sicher nicht die letzten Röhren die ich bei Ihnen geordert habe.

The tubes has arrived saferly. Thank you for packing them so carefully and also for the very useful folder of information.
I have tried the tubes out on a number of my testers (Paolo Longhin Lo460 digital tester, Hickok 752 calibrated by me, Forway Industries TV-7B/U calibrated recently by the TV-7 guru Dan Nelson). All of these testers give results close (within 5%) of the values for the calibration tubes. An excellent result. I am very pleased. It gives me confidence in my calibration of the 752!

How human is the human voice!
How evident is the difference between a Stradivarius and a Guarnerius del Gesù! How clearly a Bösendorfer demarcates from a Steinway!
But what is a body without soul? That I feel in full when the EML 45 GLOBE carries me to a dimension from beyond when listening to a Bach’s Cantata.

Confirmé le vend 19 fev. Reçu le mardi 23 en emballage très protecteur: Félicitations. Remplacé les EL34EH par les 6CA7EH, ainsi que les 2 drivers 12AU7EH par les ECC802S/Sylvania. Le changement est net: ( après 3 jours ), plus d'aération, et surtout le violon moins brillant est devenu un bonheur à redécouvrir les CD un peu délaissés...
Une remarque: il est dommage qu'une CA7EH ait son tube orienté de 180° ce qui cache la vision du point lumineux, visible sur les 3 autres....

I have already put in to service the quad EH 300B (I have two Monoblock each with two 300B in parall operation.)
The sound of the 300B of Electro Harmonix is very good related to the price. They sound a little bit hard, but I think this will change after a Burn In of 20 - 30 hours operation.

Ik heb de Tesla E88CC en Tung-Sol 6550 in mijn van der Veen UL 40-SL2 versterker gestoken en na drie dagen luisteren ben ik blij met de eindbuizen. Welke invloed de voorversterker buisjes op het geluid hebben was me al duidelijk. Maar eindversterker buizen als deze 6550 zijn een enorme verbetering ten opzichte van de eerder gebruikte Svetlana en JJ KT88.
Een vreselijk mooi hoog en een flinke toename in de weergave van microdetails, ook in het laag. Nog meer genieten van de muziek van Ozark Henry, Jan Garbarek, Leo Kottke en Porcupine Tree.

надежно и удобно. Сервис безукоризненный на мой взгляд, упаковка - прекрасная, сохранность хрупкого товара гарантируется (если в ящик со своими сапогами не залезет наша таможня не не перепакует по своем странному усмотрению). Впрочем, с нашей таможней как раз у Жака проблем со мной не было. Его информация как правило точная и ей вполне можно доверять. Он отвечает на все вопросы, на какие может ответить. В качестве примера могу привести его отношение к моему предложению купить у него пару редких ламп Алеши Вайша. Жак просто отказался мне их выслать, поскольку лампы большие, аноды цельнометаллические и Жак опасался, что даже тройной ящик не обеспечит сохранности ламп при транспортировке. Кстати, случаев рек- ламаций по качеству товара и упаковке у нас с ним, как ни странно, не было. Я благодарен Жаку за то, что он открыл для меня мир прекрасных ламп Алёши Вайша, жалко только, что их становится у него все меньше и меньше. Впрочем и нынешние лампы Emission Lab, в которой как я скромно полагаю
Жак и сам примает участие, также очень и очень неплохи. Их самым существенным недостатком является цена, но это уже личное дело каждого. Не знаю
насколько весома моя рекомендация - попробуйте сами что-то купить у него, потом сравните с моим мнением. | | | | | |

Das war der Superservice.:
24 Stunden nach der Bestellung waren die perfect verpackten Röhren Emissionlab: 520B-V3 schon da.
Habe sie gleich eingebaut .
Nach der Ruhestromeinstellung (Ug-108volt bei Ua=500V)laufen die Endstufen seit 2Tagen absolut stabil.
Dank Deiner Selection ist der Ruhestromunterschied kleiner 1% !!!
Der Wikungsgrad dieser Trioden ist ja deutlich besser als die erwarteten 25%.
Bei genau 50Watt Anodenverlustleistung erreiche ich 17 !!! Watt unverzerrt.
Das entspricht ca: 33% Wirkungsgrad.
Auch für deine geduldige Beratung zum Thema: "Brummen in Endstufen" bedanke ich mich ganz herzlich.

Über den Klang zu reden wäre jetzt falsch. Jeder hört anders. Was mir aufegefallen ist , dass das Klangbild extrem natürlich und holographisch ist. Der Bass ist wunderbar strukturiert und Stimmen haben genau die Autorität die ich so liebe. Ich bin total glücklich und froh mich für diese Röhren entschieden zu haben. Danke Jac deinen super Service.
Einspielen , einspielen , einspielen. Nach einiger Zeit wird man mit einem Klang bereichert den ich als Suchtstoff bezeichnen würde. Lange Nächte mit guter Musik sind gesichert.
Für mich haben die Röhren den gewissen Rotweinfaktor, sogar im dunklen wird man belohnt. Im gegensatz zu anderen 300 B Röhren leuchten diese sogar wunder schön.
Freue mich nun auf viele schöne Stunden mit guter Musik und einer 300 B Magie die ich voher nicht kannte ......
